A quiet and relaxing Sunday in Sucre

After three weeks at our new address and much renovation, we treated ourselves to a much needed relaxing afternoon up at Cafe Mirador this past Sunday. Sucre really slows down on Sundays and many businesses close which made things extra tranquil as we walked up the steep part of Calle Dalence to La Recoleta.

If you are looking for a good view point of Sucre, this is definitely one of the best – as are the juices at Cafe Mirador – very refreshing on a hot day! Anna, one of our lovely volunteers who has been working with us throughout our move, hiked up a bit further past La Recoleta and took in the views and the serenity of the local villages and mountains a bit higher up. The rest of us were content with the small hike up the hill and for Ash, our other awesome volunteer, it was quite the accomplishment having sprained his ankle last week and not being able to move much further than out of his dorm room!

After taking in the views, we headed back down into the city to play a couple of hours of wally (Volleyball using walls) during one of the loudest thunderstorms we’ve had recently. We arrived back at the hostel only to find the garden had turned into a small swimming pool from all of the rain! Luckily it was quick to drain and the plants definitely appreciated the watering 🙂

If you’re visiting Sucre and want to join us for wally, we play every Sunday from 4-6pm (as long as we have a enough people)!
